What does it mean?
B1305 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Yaw Rate Sensor Signal Fault .
Symptoms
- Stability control and traction control warning lamps on, with the systems switched off
- ABS warning lamp may be lit at the same time
- Hill hold, roll stability and trailer stability functions disabled
- The car drives normally in a straight line but there is no stability intervention in a slide
- Scan tool shows a frozen or out-of-range yaw value while the vehicle is standing still
Likely causes
- Internal failure of the yaw rate / lateral acceleration sensor, often after moisture reaches its mounting position under the console or a seat
- Loose sensor mounting or a bent bracket, so the sensor reads motion that does not exist
- Connector corroded or not fully latched after interior trim work
- Open or shorted wiring between the sensor and the stability control module
- Calibration never performed after sensor replacement, suspension work or an alignment
- Low system voltage disturbing the sensor output
- Bus fault preventing the sensor message from being received
How to fix it
- With the vehicle stationary on level ground, read the live yaw and lateral acceleration values, both should sit close to zero
- Inspect the sensor mounting for looseness, deformation and moisture damage
- Check the connector for corrosion and confirm it is fully latched
- Measure supply voltage and ground at the sensor and check continuity of the signal lines
- Confirm the steering angle and wheel speed inputs are also valid, they are cross-checked against yaw
- Replace the yaw rate sensor if it does not respond during a slow controlled turn or stays out of range
- Run the required sensor calibration after replacement, clear codes and confirm the lamps go out
