What does it mean?
B1602 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Left Solar Sensor Circuit High .
Symptoms
- No start with the security lamp flashing, usually straight after a key was cloned or copied
- The original key still starts the vehicle while the copy is rejected
- The fault follows the key rather than the vehicle
- Intermittent starting in cold weather or with a tired battery, and normal starting once the battery is charged
- On the sensor variant, the climate system blows warmer than commanded in direct sunlight
Likely causes
- Wrong transponder type fitted, such as a chip from a different system generation or an incompatible clone
- Partially cloned or badly written key, so the data frame is incomplete
- Interference from a second transponder or a metallic fob on the same ring corrupting the message
- Weak read caused by a damaged, cracked or misaligned antenna ring
- Broken or badly routed wiring between the ring and the module distorting the data signal
- Low voltage during cranking corrupting the transmitted frame
- Module software level not matching the key generation, common after a replacement module
- On applications where this code refers to climate control, a solar load sensor circuit reading high from an open circuit or a short to voltage
How to fix it
- Try the original manufacturer key first; if the vehicle starts, the copied key is the problem and not the system
- Remove every other transponder from the key ring and repeat the test
- Check that the antenna ring is seated squarely on the lock cylinder and its connector is fully latched
- Measure battery voltage during cranking, since a marginal battery produces corrupted frames
- Inspect the ring wiring for breaks, crush damage and poor routing close to noisy circuits
- Erase and reprogram the keys using a chip type the module supports, following the correct procedure
- Replace the antenna ring or the module only after key type, wiring and voltage have all been ruled out
- On the sensor variant, check the sensor circuit for an open and confirm the reference voltage at the connector
