What does it mean?
B1760 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Driver Seat Assembly Rearward Switch Circuit Malfunction .
Symptoms
- Seat will not travel rearward, or moves and stops before the end of its range
- Forward travel and the other adjustments still respond
- Straining, clicking or grinding noise from the rail during rearward movement
- Memory recall fails or the driver profile does not restore the seat position
- Code returns after clearing, often after the seat has been moved a few times
Likely causes
- Worn, burnt or contaminated rearward contact inside the slide switch
- Moisture or spilled liquid inside the switch pack
- Rearward signal wire broken or chafed where the loom is dragged by the moving seat
- Under-seat connector terminal corroded or pushed back after a wet carpet or a seat swap
- Slide motor or rail binding, so the circuit sees abnormal load
- Debris or a rear seat mat trapped behind the rail limiting travel
- Seat or memory module input stage failure
How to fix it
- Read the codes and observe the rearward switch input live while operating the switch
- Clear anything trapped behind or inside the rail, then clean and lubricate the rail
- Inspect and clean the switch contacts, or substitute a known good switch pack if available
- Measure continuity and resistance of the rearward wire from switch to module
- Wiggle-test the loom through the full seat travel while monitoring the live value
- Measure slide motor current; a stiff rail or failing motor shows as a high draw
- Repair the wiring or replace switch, slide motor or seat module according to results
