What does it mean?

B1795 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Occupant Classification ECU Malfunction .

Symptoms

  • Airbag warning lamp on continuously
  • Passenger airbag status indicator wrong or flickering
  • Scan tool cannot communicate with the occupant classification module
  • Fault cannot be cleared, or returns on the next ignition cycle
  • Passenger seat belt reminder behaving incorrectly

Likely causes

  • Internal electronic failure inside the occupant classification module
  • Weak battery or unstable charging voltage causing the module to reset during self-test
  • Moisture or spilled liquid reaching the module under the passenger seat
  • Seat weight sensors or bladder reading far out of range so the self-test cannot pass
  • Zero point calibration never performed after seat, cushion or module replacement
  • Damaged wiring between the weight sensors and the module
  • Non-original seat cover or aftermarket cushion loading the sensing element

How to fix it

  1. Test battery state of charge and charging system output under load
  2. Check the carpet and floor under the passenger seat for water or spill damage
  3. Inspect the module and sensor connectors for corrosion and loose terminals
  4. Read the sub-code or detail code and compare the live weight values with the empty seat
  5. Remove any aftermarket seat cover or cushion and retest
  6. Perform the zero point calibration and see whether the fault clears
  7. Replace the occupant classification module and calibrate it if the internal fault persists
