What does it mean?

B2134 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Ignition Run/Start (Remote Start) Control Circuit High .

Symptoms

  • Brake warning lamp stays illuminated at all times, sometimes even with the key off
  • Lamp cannot be switched off by any function
  • Fuse in the circuit blowing repeatedly
  • Module will not enter sleep mode, leading to a flat battery after a few days
  • Electric parking brake or brake assist inhibited by the stored fault
  • Warning message in the display that does not clear

Likely causes

  • Lamp output wire chafed against a permanently live conductor in the same loom
  • Short to a hot feed inside the instrument cluster or its connector
  • Previous repair that fed the lamp from the wrong supply, or an added accessory tapped into the circuit
  • Water in a connector bridging the lamp output to an adjacent live pin
  • Module output driver failed in the shorted state so the lamp is always powered
  • Remote start module or relay backfeeding voltage into the ignition control circuit
  • Corroded terminals in the cluster connector letting pins touch
  • Instrument cluster internal fault backfeeding the shared lamp circuit

How to fix it

  1. Confirm the manufacturer definition and the pin assignment for this vehicle
  2. Unplug the module connector and measure the lamp output circuit for voltage, key off and key on
  3. If voltage is present with the module unplugged, the short is external, in the harness or the cluster
  4. If voltage only appears with the module connected, the driver inside the module has failed shorted
  5. Trace the circuit from the module to the cluster, inspecting every grommet and bracket for chafing
  6. Check the cluster connector for water and corrosion and dry it thoroughly
  7. Disconnect any aftermarket device wired into the lamp or ignition circuit
  8. Repair the short, then confirm the lamp goes out normally and the module sleeps after lock up
