What does it mean?
The troublecode P010C is set when the MAF sensor signal voltage or frequency is below expected values. This code is similar to P0100/P010A – MAF sensor circuit malfunction. The difference between the two codes is that the PCM has identified the sensor output as faulty for a P010C code. Hot-wire MAF sensors often become dirty causing a P010C code. Troubleshooting is the same as for P0102. Sensor A and B are in the same physical sensor.
They’re just two different redundant circuits that function as backup and self test. When diagnosing MAF sensor codes, understanding fuel trims is very important. Please see the fuel trims article (P0171): Fuel Trims – Lean Identifying the type of MAF sensor in your car will also aid diagnosis. There are a number of different MAF sensors including the most common hot-wire sensors.
Note: Circuit Low Input codes are often the result of low battery voltages (that can have many possible causes), bad connections across electrical connectors or previously repaired wiring, as well as corrosion in electrical connectors.
Other possible causes of low input voltages include poor installation of aftermarket components, poor quality aftermarket components like fuses, relays, and switches, and modification of the electrical system that could include the use of conductors that are not rated for use in a particular application. However, poor connections often result in high resistances in some parts of the circuit, which is why it is important to perform resistance and continuity checks during the diagnostic procedure.
