What does it mean?
P1032 is a Powertrain (engine, transmission, fuel system) fault code. It indicates: Cylinder 2 Oil Supply Solenoid Valve Driver Voltage Implausible .
Symptoms
- Check engine light on and the fault often reappears shortly after clearing
- Uneven running and a shaky idle, most obvious on a cold engine
- Reduced throttle response and a noticeable drop in power
- Valve-train tapping that changes with engine speed
- Possible limp mode with a lower rev ceiling
- Slightly increased fuel consumption and, in some cases, a cylinder 2 misfire code
Likely causes
- Poor contact at the cylinder 2 solenoid connector — pushed-back terminal, corrosion or a broken locking tab
- Open circuit or short to ground in the control wire running along the cylinder head
- Solenoid coil that has gone open or has partially shorted turns
- Voltage drop in the common supply feed or ground for the oil control solenoids
- Oil or coolant intrusion into the connector body bridging the pins
- Damaged harness section from a previous repair or from a rubbing routing point
- Internal ECM driver fault as the last possibility
How to fix it
- Record freeze frame data, then clear the code and try to reproduce the fault under the same conditions
- Check whether other cylinders show the same style of code — a group failure moves the diagnosis to the shared power or ground
- Unplug the cylinder 2 solenoid and inspect both halves of the connector for oil, corrosion and terminal tension
- Measure the coil resistance and compare it against a known-good solenoid on the same engine
- Backprobe the control wire with the engine running and confirm the driver is switching as commanded
- Perform a continuity and insulation test on the control wire from the connector back to the module pin
- Repair the harness or replace the solenoid according to the test results, leaving the ECM as the final option
