  • 2Manufacturer-specific
  • 1Network / Communication
  • 50Sequence number

What does it mean?

U2150 is a Network (CAN bus, module communications) fault code. It indicates: Navigation ECU Gateway Communication Error .

Symptoms

  • Navigation display blank, frozen or restarting repeatedly
  • Audio, telephone and voice control lost together with navigation
  • Error message about the multimedia or navigation system
  • Steering wheel controls stop working
  • Scan tool cannot reach the navigation unit through the gateway
  • Other modules also report communication faults

Likely causes

  • Navigation unit or gateway module not powered — blown fuse or lost ignition feed
  • Loose, corroded or unlatched connector at the navigation unit or at the gateway
  • Damaged bus wiring between the navigation unit and the gateway
  • Gateway module fault preventing messages from crossing between networks
  • Navigation unit locked up after an interrupted software or map update
  • Unit or gateway replaced without being coded to the vehicle
  • Aftermarket multimedia equipment spliced into the factory bus wiring

How to fix it

  1. Check the fuses and measure supply voltage and ground at both the navigation unit and the gateway
  2. Reseat and inspect the connectors for corrosion and bent pins
  3. Test bus continuity between the navigation unit and the gateway module
  4. Remove any aftermarket multimedia equipment and restore the factory wiring
  5. Repeat any interrupted software or map update properly with a stable supply
  6. Code the unit to the vehicle after any replacement
  7. Replace the gateway only after wiring and supply tests are clean
