Frequently Asked Questions
Key technical questions from technicians and workshops about the OTO0271.
Does this Yellow cable connect directly to a laptop on its own?
No. This is an inline 16-pin-to-16-pin crossover adapter that plugs between your vehicle’s OBD2 port and your ELM327 or OBDLink scanner.
Will this fix the blinking odometer on my Fiat 500 / Punto / Fiorino after installing an aftermarket stereo?
Yes! Installing an aftermarket stereo removes the factory Blue&Me/radio node from the CAN bus, causing the mileage to flash. Performing a "PROXI Alignment" in Multiecuscan using this Yellow (A3) adapter stops the blinking permanently.
Should I leave the Yellow adapter plugged in when scanning the Engine ECU?
No. Connect your ELM327 directly to the car for Engine and ABS modules (which use Pins 6 & 14), and insert the Yellow A3 adapter only when Multiecuscan prompts for Adapter 3 (BCM, Cluster, Airbag, Proxi, etc.).
Does it work with AlfaOBD on Android?
Yes! AlfaOBD uses the exact same color-coded adapter system and requires the Yellow Adapter for low-speed CAN modules.
Is it compatible with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and USB ELM327 adapters?
Yes, because it is a passive hardware pin router, it works with all wired and wireless ELM327 and OBDLink interfaces.
Do Fiat Tipo / Egea models also need the Grey A6 adapter?
On newer Fiat Tipo/Egea and 500X/Renegade models with dual low-speed CAN buses, some modules use Yellow (A3) while others require the Grey (A6 - SKU OTO0352) adapter.
