Frequently Asked Questions
Key technical questions from technicians and workshops about the OTO0093.
Why wasn’t the Blue A5 cable in my older 4-piece Multiecuscan set?
Older 4-piece sets only included Green (A1), Red (A2), Yellow (A3), and Purple (A4). Newer Chrysler-platform FCA models (Tipo/Egea, 500X, Renegade, Giulia) added MS-CAN on pins 3 & 11, requiring this Blue A5 adapter.
Why does Proxi Alignment ask for Adapter 5 (Blue) halfway through?
Multiecuscan writes the HS-CAN and Low-Speed CAN nodes first, then prompts you to insert Adapter 5 (Blue) so it can write the new Proxi configuration to the MS-CAN nodes (Radio, HVAC, etc.).
Is the Blue A5 cable different from the Yellow A3 cable?
Yes. Yellow A3 routes CAN to Pins 1 & 9 (Low-Speed CAN), whereas Blue A5 routes CAN to Pins 3 & 11 (Medium-Speed CAN). Both are required for modern FCA vehicles.
Does it work with AlfaOBD on Android?
Yes, it works seamlessly with Bluetooth/Wi-Fi OBDLink and ELM327 dongles using AlfaOBD.
Do 2018+ FCA vehicles also need an SGW bypass?
Yes, vehicles equipped with a factory Security Gateway (SGW) module (late 2018+) require a 12+8 SGW bypass adapter to allow write/coding commands.
Does this connect directly to a laptop?
No, this is a passive OBD2 pin-converter cable that connects between your OBD2 interface (such as ELM327 or OBDLink) and the car.
