What does it mean?

B1330 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Passenger Door Ajar Circuit Short To Ground .

Symptoms

  • The system always shows the passenger door as open, even when it is firmly shut
  • Interior lamps stay on and flatten the battery overnight
  • The alarm will not arm, or triggers by itself
  • Door ajar warning displayed permanently on the cluster
  • Automatic door locking at speed does not operate

Likely causes

  • Door ajar switch circuit grounded inside a water-damaged door latch
  • Wire chafed against the door hinge or the door shell where the loom flexes
  • Torn vapour barrier letting water run down onto the latch and its connector
  • Corroded jamb connector bridging the signal wire to ground
  • Latch internal switch stuck closed by old grease or corrosion
  • Damage after door trim, window regulator or lock actuator replacement
  • Body control module input stage failure

How to fix it

  1. Watch the passenger door ajar input in live data while opening and closing the door
  2. Unplug the door latch connector and see whether the input changes to closed, which points straight at the latch
  3. If the circuit stays grounded with the latch unplugged, check the harness inside the hinge boot for chafing
  4. Inspect the inside of the door for water intrusion and repair the vapour barrier
  5. Clean or replace corroded jamb connector terminals
  6. Replace the door latch assembly when its internal switch stays closed
  7. Clear codes, verify lamp and alarm behaviour, then recheck for parasitic drain
