What does it mean?
B1355 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: PAB Circuit Short To Power .
Symptoms
- SRS lamp on, passenger airbag disabled
- The fault often only sets with the ignition on or when a particular accessory is switched on
- The code can appear right after aftermarket electrical work behind the dash
- Clearing the code has no lasting effect while the short is present
- No effect on starting or running
Likely causes
- A squib wire touching a battery-fed or ignition-fed wire in a damaged loom section
- Aftermarket wiring spliced into the dash harness for an alarm, camera or stereo and contacting the restraint lines
- Heat or rodent damage that melted insulation between the SRS loom and a nearby power circuit
- Water in a connector bridging a squib pin to an adjacent powered pin
- Terminal pushed back in a multi-way plug where restraint lines share the connector body with powered circuits
- Internal fault in the passenger inflator module
- Shorted output stage inside the airbag control module
How to fix it
- Note whether the code sets with ignition on only, or also with the key out, to narrow which supply is feeding the circuit
- Power down safely and observe the reserve power discharge time before unplugging restraint connectors
- With both the airbag and the control module connectors unplugged, switch the ignition on and check each squib wire for voltage; any reading proves a short to power in the harness
- Trace and remove any aftermarket splices, scotch locks or tapped feeds running through the dash loom
- Inspect multi-way connector bodies for pushed-back terminals and moisture bridging pins
- Repair or replace the damaged loom section using approved restraint repair parts
- Test the inflator with a load simulator, and only then consider the control module
