What does it mean?
B1506 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Seat Slide Sensor System Fault 1 (Open In The Seat Slide Sensor Circuit) .
Symptoms
- Airbag warning lamp on
- Deployment force staging based on seat position is inhibited
- Fault appears or clears when the seat is slid forward and back
- Powered seat functions on the same connector may also become intermittent
Likely causes
- Seat harness connector under the seat unplugged or not fully latched after cleaning or seat removal
- Wire broken or stretched where the harness follows the seat rails through full travel
- Failed seat slide sensor or its magnet target knocked out of position
- Sensor mounting bracket bent, or the sensor pushed away from its target by cargo under the seat
- Corroded terminals in the under-seat connector after a spill or a water leak
- Open circuit between the seat connector and the airbag control module
- Wrong seat or seat track fitted without the position sensor
How to fix it
- Slide the seat through its full travel while watching the sensor state in live data and note where it drops out
- Unplug and reseat the under-seat connector, checking for corrosion and terminals pushed out of the housing
- Inspect the harness along the seat rails for stretch marks, pinch points and broken strands inside the insulation
- Check the sensor and its target for correct alignment, gap and secure mounting
- Measure continuity from the sensor connector back to the airbag control module connector
- Repair the harness with proper terminals, or replace the sensor if the circuit is open inside it
- Clear the code and confirm with a full seat travel test that it does not return
