Can I keep driving?

Usually drivable, but get it diagnosed without delay.

First step

Disconnect the battery and let the reserve capacitor discharge before disturbing any seat restraint connector.

What does it mean?

B1507 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Seat slide sensor system fault ground circuit (short-circuited to ground) .

Symptoms

  • Airbag warning lamp on
  • Seat position reported in scan data stays fixed no matter where the seat is
  • Deployment staging based on seat position disabled
  • Code often reappears immediately after clearing, since the short is permanent

Likely causes

  • Harness chafed against the seat frame or rail where it flexes with seat travel
  • Wire crushed under the seat rail bolt or trapped by a seat that was refitted carelessly
  • Corrosion or moisture bridging terminals inside the under-seat connector
  • Terminal backed out of the connector and touching the seat frame
  • Internal short inside the seat slide sensor
  • Cargo, floor mats or seat covers pressing the harness against sharp metal edges

How to fix it

  1. Clear the code and recheck to confirm the short is live rather than a stored history
  2. Unplug the sensor and measure the harness side for continuity to ground with the connector separated
  3. Trace the harness along the rails, checking for chafe marks, crushed sections and trapped wiring under the seat mounts
  4. Remove floor mats and anything stored under the seat that could press the harness onto metal
  5. Inspect the connector for moisture, corrosion and terminals contacting the seat frame
  6. Repair the shorted section with proper terminals and reroute it away from moving metal
  7. Replace the seat slide sensor if the short is proven inside the component, then clear and retest
