First step

Scan all modules and note which ones respond, since a whole door module missing points at its power, ground or bus connection

  • 05Sequence number

What does it mean?

B1905 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Immobilizer-Keyless Control Unit Lost Communication with Driver's MPCS Unit (DRLOCKSW Message) .

Symptoms

  • Keyless entry and remote locking do not respond at the driver door, or work only from the passenger side
  • Driver door lock switch does nothing, while other doors still lock from their own switches
  • Window, mirror and lock controls in the driver door panel all stop working together
  • Security indicator behaves abnormally and the alarm may not arm or disarm
  • Fault can be intermittent and appears while the door is being opened or closed

Likely causes

  • Broken conductor in the wiring that flexes inside the driver door jamb boot every time the door is opened
  • Water damaged driver door multiplex unit after a door membrane or window seal leak
  • Corroded or loose door jamb connector between the body and the door
  • Blown fuse or open power feed to the driver door module
  • Poor ground connection for the door module inside the door shell
  • Communication line shorted to ground, to power or to the other bus wire
  • Failed driver door module or failed immobiliser and keyless control unit

How to fix it

  1. Scan all modules and note which ones respond, since a whole door module missing points at its power, ground or bus connection
  2. Check the fuse and measure supply voltage and ground quality directly at the driver door module connector
  3. Peel back the rubber jamb boot and inspect the loom carefully, flexing each wire while measuring continuity to find broken strands inside intact insulation
  4. Inspect the jamb connector for green corrosion, water and pushed back terminals
  5. Check the communication line for continuity between the door module and the keyless control unit, and for shorts to ground and power
  6. Look for water damage on the door module circuit board and for a saturated door membrane above it
  7. Replace the door module if it is water damaged or fails to communicate on a good supply, then the keyless control unit as the final step
