Can I keep driving?

Usually drivable, but get it diagnosed without delay.

First step

Split the switch from the harness with one measurement before ordering parts.

What does it mean?

B2182 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Heated Seat Module Power Supply High .

Symptoms

  • Passenger front window goes up by itself or will not stop
  • Window will not operate from the master switch but still works from its own switch
  • One touch and express up or down functions lost
  • Other window inputs on the same switch pack also behave strangely
  • Module stays awake and the battery goes flat if the car is left standing
  • Window position may need relearning after the fault is fixed

Likely causes

  • Liquid spilled into the driver master switch, by far the most common cause on this circuit
  • Wiring chafed inside the rubber boot between the door and the pillar, touching a live feed
  • Connector terminal pushed back so it contacts an adjacent battery supply pin
  • Master switch with internal corrosion bridging the input to the supply
  • Aftermarket window closer or alarm module wired into the window switch circuit
  • Water inside the door module connector from a blocked door drain or a torn vapour barrier
  • Damaged loom in the passenger door if the fault is on the remote side of the circuit
  • Door or body module input failure once the switch and harness are cleared

How to fix it

  1. Confirm the manufacturer definition and the pin for the passenger front up input
  2. Disconnect the master switch and measure the input circuit for voltage with the key on
  3. Voltage present with the switch unplugged means the harness is shorted to a live feed
  4. No voltage with the switch unplugged points at a shorted or contaminated master switch
  5. Open the door boot and inspect the loom for chafing, broken strands and green corrosion
  6. Check the door module connector and the vapour barrier for water ingress
  7. Dry, clean or replace the master switch and repair any damaged wiring
  8. Clear the code, carry out the window position relearn if the vehicle requires it, and test every window from both switches
