What does it mean?
B2184 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Ignition Unlock Run/Start Control Circuit Low .
Symptoms
- Washer pump runs continuously, or runs whenever the ignition is on
- Wipers sweep repeatedly without any request, following the phantom wash signal
- Washer function does not work at all because the module has disabled the output
- Washer reservoir empties quickly
- Wipers dry sweep and smear the screen, which can scratch the glass
- Starting problems or accessories dropping out on applications using the ignition variant
Likely causes
- Washer position contacts inside the stalk switch stuck closed or bridged by moisture
- Water tracking down the steering column into the switch assembly
- Signal wire shorted to ground where it passes the column bracket or a body panel edge
- Corroded terminals in the stalk connector
- Washer pump circuit wiring damaged in the cowl area and touching the wiper select line
- Aftermarket accessory spliced into the wash and wipe circuit
- Ignition unlock run/start circuit pulled low by a chafed conductor or a stuck relay
- Body module input failure, only after the switch and wiring are proven good
How to fix it
- Confirm the manufacturer definition and the pin for the select switch W input
- Watch the washer request state in live data with the stalk untouched
- Disconnect the stalk switch and see whether the request clears
- Measure the input circuit resistance to ground with the switch unplugged, it must read open
- Check the washer pump fuse and the pump circuit for damage in the cowl area
- Inspect the column loom for chafing and the connector for water and corrosion
- For the ignition variant, check the relevant fuse and relay and test the ignition switch outputs in each position
- Replace the stalk switch or repair the harness, then confirm the washer only runs when requested and the wipers park correctly
