What does it mean?
B2381 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Driver Seat Belt Output Circuit Low .
Symptoms
- Cabin heating stays cold or blows at a fixed temperature regardless of the setting
- Automatic climate control ignores the temperature dial or holds the blower at one speed
- The blower does not delay on a cold start, so cold air is blown immediately
- Auxiliary or supplementary heating never activates in cold weather
- The climate display shows dashes or an obviously wrong temperature value
Likely causes
- Open element inside the heater coolant temperature sensor
- Sensor connector unplugged or corroded at the heater housing
- Broken signal or ground wire in the loom behind the dash or along the heater pipes
- Heat damage to the wiring where it runs close to hot coolant lines
- Coolant seeping from a weeping heater core soaking and corroding the connector
- Open sensor ground shared with other climate control sensors
- Faulty input inside the climate control module
How to fix it
- Read the heater coolant temperature value in live data and compare it with engine coolant temperature on a fully warmed engine
- A reading pinned at the extreme low or high end of the scale points to an open circuit
- Locate the sensor on the heater housing or heater pipe, unplug it and measure its resistance against the temperature to resistance table
- Bridge the connector with a suitable test resistance and see whether the reported value changes, which proves the wiring is intact
- Check continuity of the signal and ground wires back to the climate control module
- Repair any heat damaged or corroded section and reroute the loom clear of hot pipes
- Replace the sensor when it measures open, then confirm correct operation through a full warm up cycle
