Module Configuration Failure

Severity

Can I keep driving?

Usually drivable, but get it diagnosed without delay.

First step

Record all stored codes across every module before making changes, since this fault usually cascades into other systems

  • BBody
  • 2Manufacturer-specific
  • 4Body
  • 77Sequence number

What does it mean?

B2477 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Rear Suspension Stroke Sensor Circuit Malfunction .

Symptoms

  • Several unrelated body functions behave incorrectly or disappear from the menus
  • Lighting, wiper or central locking features work differently from before
  • Warning lamps appear for equipment the vehicle does not have, or expected warnings are missing
  • Multiple codes are stored across several modules at once
  • The problem started immediately after a module replacement or a software update

Likely causes

  • Module fitted without the vehicle configuration or as built data being written to it
  • Programming session interrupted, very often by low battery voltage during a software update
  • Corrupted configuration memory after a supply drop or a jump start event
  • Mismatch between the module part number and the vehicle specification
  • Options coded that the vehicle does not physically have, or fitted equipment that was never coded
  • Failed write during a retrofit such as parking sensors, lighting or keyless entry
  • Internal memory failure inside the module

How to fix it

  1. Record all stored codes across every module before making changes, since this fault usually cascades into other systems
  2. Confirm the module part number and hardware level match the vehicle specification
  3. Connect a stable power supply before doing anything, because low voltage during configuration is a very common cause of this failure
  4. Read the current configuration and compare it item by item with the vehicle as built data
  5. Rewrite the configuration or restore the as built data using the manufacturer procedure
  6. Repeat any retrofit coding for options added to the vehicle after production
  7. Replace the module if it will not accept or retain a valid configuration, then repeat the programming with a supported supply
