RF CORNER LAMP OUTPUT Ckt Short to Battery

Jump to the fix

Severity

Medium

Can I keep driving?

Usually drivable, but get it diagnosed without delay.

First step

With everything switched off, check for voltage at the corner lamp output pin at the module, which confirms the feed is coming from outside the module

What does it mean?

B2482 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Combination Light Switch Signal Error .

Symptoms

  • The right corner lamp stays lit when it should be off, or glows dimly all the time
  • The corner lamp does not light when the indicator or steering angle should trigger it
  • The module disables the output as protection and the lamp stops working entirely
  • Other front lamps flicker as the module protects itself
  • Battery drain if the lamp is fed permanently while the vehicle is parked

Likely causes

  • Corner lamp output wire chafed against a live circuit inside the front headlamp loom
  • Water and corrosion in the corner lamp connector bridging the output to an adjacent supply pin
  • Incorrect bulb or an aftermarket LED unit feeding voltage back into the output
  • Auxiliary driving lamps or a lighting kit spliced into the corner lamp wire
  • Front loom damaged during front end body repair or bumper removal
  • Insulation melted where the loom passes close to the headlamp housing
  • Output driver in the lighting or body control module failed in the on state

How to fix it

  1. With everything switched off, check for voltage at the corner lamp output pin at the module, which confirms the feed is coming from outside the module
  2. Unplug the lamp and repeat the measurement to decide whether the source is the bulb holder or the harness
  3. Inspect the connector for corrosion and for a conductive bridge between the output and the adjacent supply pin
  4. Remove any aftermarket lamps or LED units and retest with the correct original bulb
  5. Trace the front loom for chafe damage against brackets and the headlamp housing, especially after body repair
  6. Repair the shorted section with a sealed joint and secure the loom clear of heat and sharp edges
  7. Replace the lighting module only when the unwanted voltage is still present with the harness disconnected downstream
