What does it mean?
B2503 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Warning indicator circuit open or short to GND .
Symptoms
- The right low beam does not light, or lights dimly and yellow compared with the left side
- A bulb failure warning on the instrument cluster
- The lamp works intermittently and cuts out over bumps
- Headlamp levelling or automatic light control behaves oddly on the affected side
- The fault returns soon after a new bulb has been fitted
Likely causes
- Blown right low beam bulb, or a bulb drawing current outside the range the module expects
- Corroded or heat damaged bulb holder contacts giving high resistance
- Open circuit in the low beam feed or the return between the module and the headlamp
- Loose or damaged headlamp connector with pushed back or overheated pins
- Poor headlamp ground at the body, commonly a corroded earth eyelet behind the wing
- LED or HID conversion drawing a current the module cannot measure correctly
- Failed output stage inside the headlamp control or body control module
How to fix it
- Check the bulb visually and swap it with the opposite side to see whether the fault follows the bulb
- Inspect the bulb holder and the headlamp connector for burnt, discoloured or spread terminals
- With the low beam commanded on, measure voltage at the headlamp connector and carry out voltage drop tests on both the feed and the return
- Test the headlamp ground point for corrosion and clean it back to bright metal if needed
- Check continuity of the low beam wire all the way back to the module connector
- Refit the correct original specification bulb where a conversion kit has been used, since these frequently upset load monitoring
- Replace the headlamp control module only once the wiring, the ground and the bulb have all been proven good
