What does it mean?

B2539 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Left Turn Signal Lamp Short to Ground .

Symptoms

  • None of the left side indicators work, while the right side flashes normally
  • Signal or hazard fuse blows the moment the indicator is switched on
  • Hazard lights only work on the right side
  • Left indicator arrow in the cluster does not illuminate or lights steadily
  • Lamp failure warning message on the dash
  • Symptom appears in wet weather and may disappear once the car dries

Likely causes

  • Corroded or water-filled socket in the left front, left rear or left side repeater lamp
  • Wire insulation worn through where the left side loom passes a metal edge or grommet
  • Side repeater in the wing or mirror housing cracked and holding water
  • Melted socket from an incorrect high-wattage bulb
  • Trailer or aftermarket lighting splice on the left side breaking down when wet
  • Harness damage after a left side body repair or wheel arch liner replacement
  • Failed output stage in the control module feeding the left indicators

How to fix it

  1. Verify the fuse, then unplug the left front, left rear and repeater lamps one at a time to see which branch is shorted
  2. Measure resistance from each indicator feed to ground with the connector open
  3. Inspect every left side socket and connector for water ingress, corrosion or melting
  4. Check the mirror or wing repeater carefully, as its short lead is a frequent chafe and moisture point
  5. Trace the harness along the left inner fender and through the door or arch grommets while flexing it
  6. Remove trailer or accessory wiring from the circuit and retest with the original harness alone
  7. Repair the damaged wire, replace the affected socket, then clear the code and check both sides flash evenly
