Can I keep driving?

Usually drivable, but get it diagnosed without delay.

First step

Scan the parking aid module and record all stored codes, checking whether power supply or voltage codes are present alongside this one

  • 6Body
  • 01Sequence number

What does it mean?

B2601 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Parking Sensor CPU Error .

Symptoms

  • Parking sensors do not work at all when reverse is selected
  • A continuous or repeating beep sounds when the system is engaged, warning that it has failed
  • Park assist unavailable message appears on the display
  • System reports a fault immediately at every start, without any obstacle present
  • Distance display on the screen is missing or frozen
  • Code returns straight away after being cleared

Likely causes

  • Water intrusion into the parking aid module, which is often mounted in the rear quarter panel or behind trim near the boot floor
  • Corroded module connector pins after moisture has tracked down the harness
  • Unstable supply voltage, a weak battery or a poor ground causing the processor to reset
  • Voltage spikes from jump starting, welding on the vehicle or a charger connected incorrectly
  • Harness damage or connector disturbance following a rear bumper repair or towbar fitment
  • Software fault in the module that requires an update or reconfiguration
  • Genuine internal electronic failure of the parking sensor module

How to fix it

  1. Scan the parking aid module and record all stored codes, checking whether power supply or voltage codes are present alongside this one
  2. Test battery condition and charging voltage, since an unstable supply can trigger internal module errors
  3. Locate the module and inspect it for water, damp trim or corrosion around the connector
  4. Check supply voltage and ground at the module connector, including voltage drop under load
  5. Clean or repair corroded pins, dry the area and correct the source of the water leak
  6. Check whether an updated calibration or software is available for that module and apply it if so
  7. Replace and configure the parking aid module only if power, ground and wiring are proven good and the internal error persists
