Avoid extended driving; visit a service soon.

First step

Prove where the circuit opens before replacing the actuator.

  • 1Manufacturer-specific
  • 4Chassis / ABS
  • 65Sequence number

What does it mean?

C1465 is a Chassis (ABS, traction control, steering) fault code. It indicates: Front Axle Disconnect Control Circuit High .

Symptoms

  • Four wheel drive warning lamp on, system unavailable
  • Front axle does not connect or does not release
  • Whine or drone from the front axle at speed when it stays engaged
  • Increased fuel use and driveline drag
  • Actuator makes no sound when engagement is commanded

Likely causes

  • Open circuit or broken conductor in the actuator control or ground wire
  • Actuator connector unplugged, loose or with a backed out terminal
  • Heavy corrosion in the connector producing very high resistance
  • Internally open actuator solenoid winding
  • Short to battery voltage where the harness has rubbed on a live wire, bracket or exhaust shield
  • Blown fuse feeding the actuator supply
  • Failed control module output driver

How to fix it

  1. Confirm on live data that the circuit reads high or open
  2. Inspect the actuator connector and its lock for damage, corrosion and pushed back pins
  3. Measure the actuator winding resistance; an infinite reading confirms an internal open
  4. Check continuity of both wires from the module connector to the actuator
  5. With the module unplugged, check for battery voltage on the control wire to identify a short to power
  6. Check the fuse and the supply circuit for that actuator
  7. Repair the wiring or replace the actuator, then command engagement and confirm operation
