What does it mean?
P1267 is a Powertrain (engine, transmission, fuel system) fault code. It indicates: Cylinder 7 High To Low Side Short .
Symptoms
- The MIL is on and may flash during heavy misfire
- Cylinder 7 misfire with a rhythmic shake, worst at idle and light load
- Noticeable power loss and rough acceleration
- Fuel smell and increased consumption
- Uneven exhaust note, sometimes with popping
- The fault can be intermittent and appear only when hot
Likely causes
- Insulation worn through between the two cylinder 7 injector wires
- Cylinder 7 injector with a shorted or partially shorted winding
- Connector contaminated with oil or water, allowing current to leak between pins
- Harness damaged where it runs along the cylinder head or under the manifold
- Terminals stretched or burnt from repeated disconnection or previous arcing
- Non standard wiring or a poorly insulated splice in that circuit
- Module injector driver damaged as a consequence of the short
How to fix it
- Verify with the scan tool that misfire counts are rising on cylinder 7
- Unplug the injector and inspect the connector body and terminals for contamination and damage
- Measure the winding resistance of the cylinder 7 injector and compare it with the others
- With both ends disconnected, test for a short between the feed and driver wires and for insulation to ground
- Inspect the loom along its whole route for chafe points, especially near hot components
- Fit a known good injector in cylinder 7 and see whether the fault clears
- Repair the wiring or replace the injector, then clear codes and confirm the misfire counter stays at zero on a road test
