What does it mean?
P1347 is a Powertrain (engine, transmission, fuel system) fault code. It indicates: Misfire Cylinder 11 - Position Sensor . This is a standardised OBD-II code. The technical definition is the same regardless of the make or model of vehicle, although specific causes and symptoms can vary between vehicles.
Symptoms
- Rough idle with a distinct pulse or shake felt through the body
- Check engine light on, flashing if the misfire is heavy
- Noticeable power loss, especially at low speed and light throttle
- Fuel smell at the tailpipe and higher consumption
- Hesitation and uneven running that changes with engine temperature
Likely causes
- Failed ignition coil or a cracked, carbon-tracked boot on cylinder 11
- Worn or fouled spark plug in that cylinder
- Clogged, leaking or electrically open injector on cylinder 11
- Weak or noisy crank or cam position signal, which can make the misfire monitor attribute counts incorrectly
- Low compression on that cylinder from a leaking valve, worn rings or a head gasket issue
- Vacuum leak local to that cylinder, such as a cracked intake runner gasket
- Wiring fault in the coil or injector circuit for the rear-most cylinder, where harness heat and vibration are highest
How to fix it
- Confirm the physical location of cylinder 11 on the engine before removing components, since bank numbering varies
- Read misfire counters in live data to see whether the count stays on cylinder 11 or moves
- Swap the coil and then the spark plug with a neighbouring cylinder and see whether the misfire follows the part
- Check the injector on that cylinder electrically and listen for correct operation, then test the fuel side
- Inspect the crank and cam sensor signals for noise or dropouts, since a poor position signal can misreport the affected cylinder
- Carry out a compression or leak-down test on cylinder 11 if ignition and fuel test good
- Repair the cause found, clear the code, and verify the misfire counter for that cylinder stays at zero on a road test
