What does it mean?
B1212 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Front Center Right Sensor Fault .
Symptoms
- Parking aid fault message and warning lamp
- Constant tone as soon as reverse or the parking system is selected
- Objects directly ahead on the right of centre are not detected
- Random warnings on an open road at low speed
- The whole front parking aid may be switched off by the module
- Guidance display missing a segment for that position
Likely causes
- Internal sensor failure or moisture that has got past the sensor seal
- Sensor face contaminated with mud, tar, wax, ice or overspray from paintwork
- Sensor knocked loose or repositioned in its ring after minor front-end contact
- Harness damaged or connector pulled during bumper removal and refitting
- Corrosion on the connector pins from water thrown up by the front wheels
- Fuse, supply or ground fault at the parking aid module
- Module input circuit failure or a break in the sensor communication line
How to fix it
- Clean the sensor face and inspect it for paint thickness, cracks and correct seating in its ring
- Compare all front sensor values in live data while an object is brought towards each one
- With the system armed, feel or listen for the sensor's ticking to confirm whether it is operating
- Check the bumper harness routing and connector for damage, especially if the bumper has been removed
- Test supply voltage and ground at the parking aid module and check the fuse
- Swap the suspect sensor with a known good one from another position and see whether the fault follows
- Replace the sensor or repair the wiring, clear the code and confirm all positions read correctly
