What does it mean?
B1235 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Problem in the Driver's Air Mix Control Linkage, Door, or Motor Circuit .
Symptoms
- Driver side air temperature cannot be changed and stays hot or cold
- Repeated clicking, ticking, or grinding from behind the dash that changes when the temperature is adjusted
- The blend position in live data never reaches the commanded value
- Vent temperature shifts briefly and then reverts on its own
- Poor defrost and footwell heat in cold weather
Likely causes
- Blend door jammed by a broken flap, a collapsed foam seal, or debris inside the HVAC case
- Cracked or disengaged linkage arm between the actuator and the blend door shaft
- Stripped gear teeth inside the air mix actuator, so the door never reaches its stop
- Worn feedback potentiometer giving a position reading that does not match the commanded travel
- Actuator mounted loosely or incorrectly so its output shaft is not properly engaged
- Open or shorted actuator wiring, leaving the module with no valid movement feedback
How to fix it
- Sweep the temperature setting while an assistant listens at the HVAC case to locate the noise
- Command the actuator with a scan tool and compare the commanded position with the feedback value
- Remove the actuator and check that the blend door shaft turns freely by hand through its full travel
- Inspect the linkage arm and the actuator output gear for cracks and stripped teeth
- Check the actuator connector, control wiring, feedback signal, and ground before condemning any part
- Repair the door or linkage first, replace the actuator if its gears or feedback are damaged, and run the calibration procedure afterwards
