What does it mean?
B1370 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: PBPT Circuit Short To Power .
Symptoms
- SRS lamp on, passenger pretensioner disabled
- The fault may only appear when the passenger seat heater or seat motor is used
- Often traceable to recent seat or upholstery work
- The code will not stay cleared
- No effect on engine performance
Likely causes
- Pretensioner wire chafed onto a powered circuit under the passenger seat, typically a heater or seat motor feed
- Aftermarket wiring for a seat heater, cover or under-seat accessory laid through the restraint loom
- Insulation melted between the restraint line and a power wire where the loom is crushed on the rail
- Water in a shared connector bridging a squib pin to a live pin
- Terminal pushed back inside a multi-way plug and touching a powered contact
- Internal fault in the passenger pretensioner unit
- Shorted driver output in the airbag control module
How to fix it
- Establish whether the fault follows use of a particular seat circuit; that identifies the source of the voltage
- Power down the restraint system safely and observe the discharge time
- Strip out any aftermarket under-seat wiring running with the restraint loom
- With both ends of the pretensioner circuit unplugged, switch the ignition on and check the squib wires for voltage while operating the seat functions
- Repair the chafed section and reroute the loom so it cannot touch the seat rail again
- Confirm the pretensioner itself with an approved load simulator
- Replace the control module only if the harness and the unit both test good
