What does it mean?

B1375 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Driver's Door Power Tailgate Switch Circuit Malfunction .

Symptoms

  • The power tailgate does not respond to the driver door switch, although the key fob and the tailgate handle still work
  • If the switch is stuck closed the tailgate may try to operate on its own or refuse all power operation
  • A message or chime about the power tailgate on vehicles fitted with a message centre
  • The backlight in the switch may be dead at the same time
  • The tailgate can still be opened and closed by hand

Likely causes

  • Worn or stuck power tailgate switch in the driver door trim, holding a permanent request
  • Broken conductor inside the rubber boot where the door harness crosses the driver door hinge
  • Water in the driver door switch pack or door module after the vapour barrier was disturbed
  • Corroded connector behind the driver door trim panel
  • Switch wire shorted to ground or to power after door speaker, mirror or trim work
  • Loose or dirty ground for the driver door switch pack
  • Input stage fault in the body control module

How to fix it

  1. Try each control in turn - driver door switch, key fob, outer handle, inside button - to confirm only this input is affected
  2. Watch the switch input state on the scan tool while pressing and releasing the switch
  3. Remove the driver door trim and inspect the connector for green terminals, damp and a loose ground
  4. Flex the harness inside the door hinge boot while watching the input; broken strands show up as the signal drops out
  5. Test the switch itself for continuity when pressed and a clean open when released
  6. Repair the broken wire in the boot or replace the switch pack as the test indicates
  7. Replace or reprogram the body control module only after the switch, wiring and grounds are proven good
