What does it mean?
B1725 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Inflatable curtain airbag rear-Driver resistance circuit short to Battery .
Symptoms
- Airbag warning lamp on and the rear driver-side curtain is deactivated
- Deployment for that curtain is inhibited in a side impact or rollover
- Code returns immediately after clearing
- Fault often traced back to recent accessory installation or body repair
- Other SRS circuits sharing the same connector may fault at the same time
Likely causes
- Squib wire chafed against a powered conductor sharing the same roof-rail or pillar route
- Aftermarket wiring for lighting, alarm or audio run alongside the SRS loom and shorted into it
- Corrosion inside the pillar connector bridging the squib pin to a permanent live pin
- Pin pushed back or wrongly seated after a connector repair, contacting the neighbouring terminal
- Curtain inflator with an internally shorted element feeding voltage back into the loop
- Damage from a previous body repair where the loom was routed against a live stud
- Restraint control module driver stage failure
How to fix it
- Read and note all restraint codes and the freeze frame data
- Disconnect the battery and wait the specified stand-down time before opening any squib connector
- Separate the squib connector, fit an approved load tool and see whether the fault stays present
- With the module connector released, check both squib wires for voltage or continuity to a live circuit
- Inspect the roof-rail and pillar loom for chafe, and look for any non-factory wiring routed against it
- Remove or reroute aftermarket wiring and repair damaged insulation with SRS repair leads
- Replace the curtain inflator if the short is inside the unit, and the control module only as a last step
