What does it mean?
B1861 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Passenger Window Control Circuit Open .
Symptoms
- Passenger window does not move from either the passenger or the driver switch
- No motor sound when the window switch is pressed
- Window works occasionally when the door is moved or the loom is disturbed
- Glass stuck down and will not close
- One-touch operation lost on that window
Likely causes
- Broken conductor in the passenger door hinge boot
- Motor connector unplugged, loose or with a corroded terminal
- Open winding inside the passenger window motor
- Water damage inside the door corroding the connections
- Open connection between the passenger switch, the door module and the motor
- Blown fuse or open supply feeding the passenger window circuit
- Module output driver open internally
How to fix it
- Check the fuse and the supply voltage at the passenger door module
- Back-probe the motor connector and command the window while watching for voltage
- If voltage is present but nothing happens, measure the motor winding resistance
- If no voltage arrives, continuity test both control wires back to the module
- Open the hinge boot and inspect for broken wires while flexing the loom
- Repair the wiring with crimped joints and reseal the boot properly
- Replace the motor or regulator if it is open, then relearn the window position
