First step

Read the stored code with the freeze frame data and note exactly which switch input the module reports as stuck

  • 68Sequence number

What does it mean?

B1868 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Driver Passenger Window Switch Circuit Stuck .

Symptoms

  • A window runs on its own or keeps travelling until it stalls at the end of its stroke
  • One or all windows dead from the master switch while the individual door switch still works, or the reverse
  • Auto up/down and anti pinch protection stop working; the glass only creeps
  • Modules stay awake after the car is locked, so the battery goes flat if the vehicle sits for a few days
  • Central locking or one touch convenience functions are ignored while the stuck input is present

Likely causes

  • Liquid spilled into the driver's master switch pack, leaving the contacts permanently bridged
  • Worn or carbon fouled switch contacts that no longer release after being pressed
  • Switch mechanically jammed by a broken rocker, debris or a distorted trim panel
  • Switch signal wire shorted to ground between the switch and the door module
  • Chafed harness inside the rubber boot at the door hinge, where the wires flex every time the door opens
  • Corroded or water damaged door module connector, often after a window seal or door membrane leak
  • Failed input circuit inside the door control module or body control module (BCM)

How to fix it

  1. Read the stored code with the freeze frame data and note exactly which switch input the module reports as stuck
  2. Watch the switch states in scan tool live data while pressing and releasing every button; a stuck contact stays in the pressed state
  3. Unplug the suspect switch pack: if the input goes back to normal the switch is at fault, if it stays active look for a short to ground in the wiring
  4. Inspect the switch for spilled liquid, sticky residue, a broken rocker and corroded terminals
  5. Flex the harness inside the door hinge boot while watching live data to expose a chafed or broken conductor
  6. Repair the harness with correct terminals and sealed joints, then fit a new switch pack if the contacts are worn
  7. Replace or reprogram the door or body control module only after the switch and its wiring have been proven good
