What does it mean?
B1865 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Passenger Window Position Sensor Circuit Performance .
Symptoms
- Anti-pinch reverses the window for no reason, especially near the top
- Auto up stops partway and the switch has to be held
- Window position drifts and needs relearning frequently
- Window is slow in cold weather and the fault returns right after
- Passenger window sometimes works from the driver switch and sometimes not
Likely causes
- Hall sensor magnet ring worn, cracked or contaminated with metal debris
- Regulator cable slipping or stretched, so the glass moves less than the counted pulses
- Intermittent connection at the motor connector causing missed pulses
- Dry, swollen or misaligned window run channels making the glass drag
- Window position never initialised after a battery disconnect, motor or glass replacement
- Sensor gradually degraded so its output is weak or noisy
- Bent door frame or a badly fitted glass changing the effort needed
How to fix it
- Perform the window initialisation or relearn procedure and retest
- Watch the position counts on a scan tool while running the window up and down
- Clean and lubricate the run channels and check the glass alignment in the frame
- Inspect the regulator cable for fraying, slack or a jumped drum
- Check the motor connector for moisture, loose terminals and green corrosion
- Compare the motor current draw with the driver side to gauge extra load
- Replace the motor and regulator assembly with its integrated sensor, then relearn the window
