What does it mean?

B1934 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Driver Door Lock/Unlock Switch Circuit Stuck .

Symptoms

  • Doors lock or unlock repeatedly on their own, or cycle when the door is opened
  • The key fob and keyless entry are ignored, because a held switch input overrides them
  • The lock button on the driver door does nothing at all
  • Actuators buzz or click continuously and can eventually overheat
  • Battery goes flat after the car sits, because the module never goes to sleep

Likely causes

  • Liquid spilled into the driver door lock switch, leaving the contacts bridged
  • Worn or carbon fouled contacts inside the switch that no longer release
  • Switch mechanically jammed by a broken button or a distorted door trim panel
  • Switch signal wire shorted to ground between the door panel and the module
  • Chafed harness inside the door jamb boot where the wires flex with every door opening
  • Water damaged door module after a torn door membrane
  • Aftermarket alarm or remote start wired into the lock switch circuit

How to fix it

  1. Read the code and freeze frame and confirm which switch input the module reports as stuck
  2. Watch the lock switch state in scan tool live data while pressing and releasing the button; a stuck contact stays active
  3. Unplug the driver door switch: if the input returns to normal the switch is faulty, if it stays active the wiring is shorted to ground
  4. Inspect the switch for spilled liquid, sticky residue, a broken button and corroded terminals
  5. Check the trim panel is not pressing on the switch and distorting it
  6. Look for a torn door membrane and water damage on the door module, then dry and reseal it
  7. Replace the switch if its contacts are worn, and the door or body control module only after switch and wiring have both been proven good
