What does it mean?
B1947 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Power Liftgate Pinch Sensor 2 Circuit Low .
Symptoms
- Power liftgate refuses to close automatically, or reverses immediately after starting to close
- Powered operation disabled altogether, leaving only manual use
- Repeated beeping when the close command is given
- Gate stops at the same point every time
- Obstruction detection triggering with nothing in the way
Likely causes
- Cut, crushed or perished rubber anti trap strip on the liftgate opening
- Water sitting in the strip end connector or its harness plug, bridging the signal to ground
- Chafed wire in the liftgate boot where the loom flexes on every cycle
- Signal wire shorted to ground against a body panel or a trim clip
- Failed termination resistor at the end of the pinch strip
- Internal fault in the liftgate control module input stage
How to fix it
- Look at the pinch sensor 2 value in live data with the gate open and note how far it sits below the normal range
- Unplug the pinch strip: if the reading jumps back to normal the strip is shorted, if it stays low the harness or module is at fault
- Measure the strip end to end and compare it with the opposite strip, a healthy strip holds a stable resistance that changes only when squeezed
- Inspect the whole strip for cuts, crush marks, trapped debris and a torn end cap that lets water in
- Check the harness where it passes through the gate boot, flexing it while watching live data
- Dry and clean the connectors, repair corroded terminals or damaged wiring
- Fit a new pinch strip if it fails the resistance check, then clear the code and cycle the gate several times to confirm normal closing
