What does it mean?
B1948 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Power Liftgate Pinch Sensor 2 Circuit High .
Symptoms
- Power close function inhibited, the gate has to be pulled shut by hand
- Powered opening still works while closing is blocked, or the whole system is disabled
- Warning chime sounds when the close button is pressed
- Gate reverses immediately whenever it is commanded closed
- Fault often appears in cold or wet weather and clears when conditions change
Likely causes
- Broken conductor inside the rubber anti trap strip, often at the moulded end where it is clamped
- Pinch strip connector unplugged, corroded or with a pushed back terminal
- Open in the return or ground leg of the sensor circuit
- Signal wire chafed against a live feed in the liftgate loom, pulling it up to battery voltage
- Strip disconnected and left off after glass, trim or latch work
- Poor ground for the liftgate control module, which lifts the reference for the whole input
- Internal input fault in the liftgate control module
How to fix it
- Read the pinch sensor 2 value and confirm it sits at or near the upper limit rather than in the working band
- Unplug the strip and measure its resistance end to end, an open reading proves the strip is broken internally
- Back probe the sensor feed and return at the module with the strip connected, comparing them with the healthy strip on the other side
- Check for battery voltage on the signal wire with the strip unplugged, any voltage means a short to a feed in the loom
- Inspect and flex the gate boot harness, which is where most open circuits in this system develop
- Clean the module ground point and verify a low voltage drop from module ground to body
- Renew the strip or repair the wiring, then clear the code and cycle the gate to confirm the anti trap function reacts to a light push
