What does it mean?

B2524 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Turn Signal RH Front Circuit Short to Ground .

Symptoms

  • Right front indicator does not light and may take the hazard function on that corner with it
  • Fuse for the front lighting or indicators blows repeatedly
  • Flash rate changes, or the indicators stop working on both sides once the module protects the output
  • Warning message about lighting failure in the cluster
  • Fault comes back after washing the car or driving in heavy rain
  • Burnt smell or discoloured connector at the right front lamp

Likely causes

  • Insulation rubbed off the indicator wire behind the right headlamp or against a bumper bracket
  • Water and salt in the right front lamp connector building a conductive path to the body
  • Internal short in the bulb socket, often after the socket has overheated and deformed
  • Damage to the front harness after a minor front-end impact or during bumper removal
  • Aftermarket accessory such as an LED strip or alarm indicator tapped into the signal wire
  • Faulty LED indicator module drawing far more current than intended
  • Shorted driver stage in the body control module output

How to fix it

  1. Inspect the right front lamp connector and socket for water, corrosion or heat damage
  2. Check whether the fuse still blows with the lamp unplugged, which separates a lamp fault from a harness short
  3. Measure resistance from the indicator feed to ground with the connector open to locate the shorted side
  4. Follow the front harness behind the headlamp and bumper bar, checking for rub-through and pinch points
  5. Remove any aftermarket wiring tapped into the indicator circuit and retest with factory wiring only
  6. Repair the shorted wire with a sealed splice and secure the loom away from sharp edges
  7. Retest module output with a scan tool command before replacing the control module
