What does it mean?
B2555 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Left Headlamp (Low Beam) Short to Ground .
Symptoms
- Left low beam does not light, with the fuse often blown
- Both low beams may go out together once the module protects the shared output
- Lighting failure message on the instrument cluster
- Light comes on briefly at switch-on and then goes out
- Fault appears or worsens after rain, snow or a wash
- Discoloured or melted connector visible at the left headlamp
Likely causes
- Internally shorted low beam bulb or a socket contact bent onto the metal shell
- Corrosion inside the left headlamp connector after water or washer fluid has entered
- Chafed feed wire against the battery tray, air box bracket or inner fender edge
- Cracked lamp housing or a missing rear cap seal letting moisture reach the bulb terminals
- Failed ballast or LED driver on discharge and LED equipped lamps
- Wiring damaged during previous work on the front end and taped rather than repaired
- Shorted output driver in the lighting control module
How to fix it
- Check the fuse and test whether it still blows with the left headlamp unplugged
- Examine the left headlamp connector and socket for burnt pins, corrosion and moisture
- Measure resistance from the low beam feed to ground on the harness side with the lamp disconnected
- On discharge or LED lamps, disconnect the ballast or driver module to see whether the short lies inside the assembly
- Inspect the harness along the battery tray and inner fender, flexing it while monitoring the meter
- Repair the damaged wiring with a sealed splice, reroute it away from sharp edges and reseal any grommet
- Once the circuit is clean, command the output with a scan tool and evaluate the module only if the fault persists
