What does it mean?
B2571 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Right Park Lamp Short to Ground .
Symptoms
- Right park or position light does not illuminate with the lights switched on
- Fuse for the park lamps blows, often killing the dashboard illumination as well
- Left side position lamps work normally, showing the fault is side specific
- Lamp outage warning in the cluster and reduced visibility of the car at night
- Lights work for a moment then go out as the module protects itself
- Problem worsens after rain or a car wash
Likely causes
- Corroded park lamp socket in the front or rear right lamp housing
- Water inside the lamp assembly reaching the bulb contacts
- Feed wire chafed against a bracket, body seam or wheel arch liner on the right side
- Wrong bulb type fitted, or a bulb pushed in far enough for the base to touch the shell
- Trailer, roof light or accessory wiring spliced into the park lamp circuit and shorting when wet
- Number plate or marker lamps that share this circuit shorting internally
- Failed lamp output driver in the body control module
How to fix it
- Check the park lamp fuse and note whether the dashboard lighting is affected at the same time
- Unplug the right front and right rear position lamps one at a time to isolate which branch causes the short
- Inspect each socket for corrosion, water and a contact touching the metal shell
- Measure resistance from the park lamp feed to ground with the lamps disconnected
- Include the number plate and marker lamps in the check, since they often share this output
- Remove any accessory wiring spliced into the circuit and retest with the factory harness alone
- Repair the shorted wire or socket, clear the code and confirm all position lamps on that side operate
