What does it mean?
C1136 is a Chassis (ABS, traction control, steering) fault code. It indicates: Engine Signal 6 .
Symptoms
- Stability and traction control lamps on, with those functions switched off
- Engine intervention side of the traction system no longer works
- Warning appears intermittently and may clear on its own
- Reduced engine power or restricted performance in some conditions
- Multiple modules report communication faults at the same time
- Live data for the value is missing or clearly wrong
Likely causes
- Loss of the message on the vehicle network because of a wiring or bus fault
- Engine control module unable to supply the value because of its own sensor faults
- Broken or intermittent conductor inside the harness, often at a flex point
- Corroded or wet connector at either end of the circuit
- Voltage supply problem to one of the modules during start up
- Interference from an aftermarket accessory wired into the network
- Failed receiving module input circuit
How to fix it
- Scan every module and record all stored codes before clearing anything
- Fix engine management sensor faults first if the source value is unreliable
- Test the network wiring for continuity, shorts and correct bus resistance
- Inspect connectors at both modules for corrosion, moisture and terminal push back
- Disconnect any aftermarket electronics tapped into the network and retest
- Check power supply and ground quality at both modules
- Repair the wiring first and only replace and code a module once the circuit tests good
