What does it mean?
C1269 is a Chassis (ABS, traction control, steering) fault code. It indicates: Traction Control Inlet Valve Coil Circuit Failure . This is a standardised OBD-II code. The technical definition is the same regardless of the make or model of vehicle, although specific causes and symptoms can vary between vehicles.
Symptoms
- ABS, traction control and stability lamps illuminated
- Traction control no longer limits wheel spin on loose or wet surfaces
- ABS may still function or may be disabled depending on which valve is affected
- A driven wheel spins under acceleration without any intervention
- Code returns after clearing, often as soon as the self-test runs
Likely causes
- Open or shorted valve coil winding inside the hydraulic modulator
- Corroded or water-damaged connector at the ABS hydraulic unit
- Chafed harness at the modulator, where the loom is exposed to road spray and heat
- Loose or backed-out terminals in the valve block connector
- Low system voltage or a poor modulator ground affecting the coil circuits
- Failed valve driver inside the ABS/traction control module
- Corrosion inside the modulator after long-term moisture ingress
How to fix it
- Unplug the hydraulic unit connector and inspect both halves for water, corrosion and pushed-out pins
- Measure the resistance of the affected valve coil at the modulator pins and compare it with the other valve coils
- Check the coil circuits for short to ground and short to voltage with the connector disconnected
- Verify supply voltage and ground quality at the modulator under load
- Use the scan tool valve activation test to see whether the valve responds to command
- Repair the harness or connector where damage is found, and dry and seal the connector properly
- Replace the hydraulic modulator assembly when a coil is proven open or shorted internally
