What does it mean?
C1510 is a Chassis (ABS, traction control, steering) fault code. It indicates: Manufacturer-Specific Chassis/ABS Fault .
Symptoms
- ABS and stability control warning lamps on and both systems disabled
- Vehicle pulls to one side during hard braking or on an ABS stop
- Right front wheel locks or pedal pulsation feels wrong during ABS operation
- Right front brake runs hot, with a burning smell or a hot wheel after driving
- Longer than normal pedal travel or a pedal that stays firm during an ABS event
Likely causes
- Sticking or clogged outlet (dump) valve for the right front channel inside the hydraulic unit
- Old, contaminated or moisture laden brake fluid causing valve sticking and internal corrosion
- Low fluid level or air trapped in the right front circuit
- Restricted, swollen or internally collapsed brake hose to the right front caliper holding pressure
- Seized caliper piston or slide pins keeping the right front brake applied
- Open or high resistance solenoid coil for that channel
- Faulty right front wheel speed signal causing the module to expect a change that never occurs
How to fix it
- Check brake fluid level and condition; dark or contaminated fluid is a strong clue
- Inspect the right front hose and caliper for restriction, seizure or dragging pads
- Compare all four wheel speed signals on live data to rule out a false slip input
- Run the ABS valve actuation or bleed routine with a scan tool and watch the right front channel respond
- Bleed the circuit properly and flush old fluid, then retest
- Measure the solenoid resistance for that channel where it is accessible
- Replace the hydraulic control unit only after the hose, caliper, fluid and sensor have been proven good
