What does it mean?
C1706 is a Chassis (ABS, traction control, steering) fault code. It indicates: RR Low Pressure Signal .
Symptoms
- Tyre pressure warning lamp on steady
- Display message or graphic naming the right rear tyre
- The right rear tyre looks or feels soft compared with the others
- Slight pull, extra road noise and uneven shoulder wear on that corner
- Warning appears on cold mornings and clears once the tyre warms up on the road
Likely causes
- Genuinely low inflation pressure in the right rear tyre
- Slow leak from a puncture, a corroded rim bead seat or a damaged valve
- Leaking sensor valve stem seal, grommet or a loose valve nut
- A sharp drop in ambient temperature pushing pressure below the warning threshold
- Placard pressure or threshold wrongly configured in the module after a wheel or tyre size change
- Faulty sensor reporting an incorrectly low value
- Sensor IDs learned into the wrong positions after a rotation, so another wheel's low reading is blamed on the right rear
How to fix it
- Check all four pressures with a calibrated gauge on cold tyres and set them to the placard value
- Compare the per-wheel pressures shown in live data with the gauge readings
- Inspect the right rear tyre for nails, cuts and sidewall damage; soap-test the valve, bead and tread
- Check the valve core and stem seal and fit a new service kit if it is leaking
- If the gauge and the sensor disagree consistently, replace that sensor and program its ID
- Verify the placard pressure and warning threshold stored in the module after any wheel change
- Run the relearn procedure, then recheck after a drive cycle to confirm the warning stays off
