What does it mean?
C1707 is a Chassis (ABS, traction control, steering) fault code. It indicates: LR Low Pressure Signal .
Symptoms
- Tyre pressure warning lamp on
- Message or pressure display pointing to the left rear tyre
- Visibly soft left rear tyre, especially noticeable when loaded
- Slight pull to one side, heavier steering feel and increased fuel consumption
- Warning that comes on in cold weather and disappears once the tyre heats up
Likely causes
- Under-inflation in the left rear tyre, often after a long period without a pressure check
- Puncture or slow leak through the tread, bead seat or a corroded rim
- Valve stem seal, grommet or core leaking at the sensor
- Seasonal temperature drop lowering pressure past the warning threshold
- Wrong placard pressure or threshold stored after fitting different wheels or tyres
- Sensor reporting an inaccurate low value as it ages
- Position learn done incorrectly so the left rear location is linked to another sensor
How to fix it
- Measure all four tyres cold with a calibrated gauge and inflate to the placard value
- Compare scan tool per-wheel pressure values against the gauge to see whether the sensor is honest
- Inspect the left rear tyre and rim for punctures, bead corrosion and impact damage; soap-test for leaks
- Replace the valve service kit if the stem seal or core is leaking
- Replace the sensor and program its ID if it reports a value that does not match reality
- Confirm the module's placard pressure and threshold settings match the fitted tyre size
- Perform the relearn, clear the code and verify after a road test
