Can I keep driving?

Usually drivable, but get it diagnosed without delay.

First step

A typical diagnostic sequence used by mechanics, provided here for educational reference only. Diagnostic work should be performed by a qualified mechanic with the appropriate tools and training. 1. Read all stored codes and the freeze frame first. If you see transmission codes (P0700, P0750 family) sitting next to this one, that tells you which circuit and which actuator the module was worried about 2. Load-test the battery and check charging voltage at idle.

What does it mean?

When I find a stored P0658 code, it means that the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected a low supply voltage condition in the circuit for a particular actuator. The actuator in question is typically associated with the automatic transmission, transfer case, or one of the differentials. Consult a professional technical data service to determine the actuator location and function as it relates to your vehicle.

Battery voltage is usually supplied to the actuator in question via a fused, switched circuit. The PCM sends a ground signal to the actuator in order to complete the circuit and accomplish a programmed function. When the actuator circuit is completed (as the PCM commands) it provides the PCM with an input voltage signal. If this input voltage signal is not received by the PCM, a P0658 will be stored and a malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) may be illuminated.

Some vehicles will require multiple drive cycles (with a failure) for a MIL to be illuminated.
