What does it mean?
P1307 is a Powertrain (engine, transmission, fuel system) fault code. It indicates: Chassis Acceleration Sensor Range/Performance .
Symptoms
- MIL (check engine lamp) on, usually with ABS, traction or stability warning lamps
- Stability control, traction control or four-wheel-drive functions disabled
- Unexpected traction control intervention on dry, level roads
- Hill-hold or hill-descent assistance stops working
- On some vehicles a conservative transmission shift strategy is used while the fault is present
Likely causes
- Sensor loose on its bracket, or refitted at the wrong angle after body or suspension work
- Failed sensor element with a drifting, sticking or offset output
- Corroded connector or damaged harness at the sensor
- Zero-point calibration never performed after sensor, subframe or suspension repairs
- Poor ground or unstable supply voltage feeding the sensor
- Signal disagreement caused by mismatched tyre sizes, a space-saver spare or a wrong wheel speed input
How to fix it
- With the vehicle stationary and level, read the sensor's live value; it should sit close to zero
- Confirm the mounting bracket is tight and the sensor faces the direction the design requires
- Inspect the connector and harness for corrosion, chafing and loss of pin tension
- Measure the supply voltage and ground at the sensor connector
- Drive a slow figure of eight and watch the sensor value change smoothly and symmetrically
- Check that all four tyres are the same size and correctly inflated, and compare the wheel speed signals
- Run the sensor zero-point calibration with a capable scan tool, and replace the sensor only if it still cannot be calibrated
