What does it mean?
P1567 is a Powertrain (engine, transmission, fuel system) fault code. It indicates: Cruise Switches Circuit Malfunction .
Symptoms
- Cruise control engages but will not accept a set, resume or coast command
- Set speed changes on its own, or the system cancels when a button is pressed
- Cruise indicator lamp behaves inconsistently
- Steering wheel buttons feel dead or need extra pressure to operate
- Check engine light on with the code stored
Likely causes
- Worn or dirty contacts inside the set and resume switch block
- Two switch inputs seen closed at the same time, which the module rejects as implausible
- Corroded connector or a broken wire in the switch harness
- Clockspring conductor damaged so one switch line loses continuity
- Water damage to the steering wheel switch pack
- Signal wire chafed and shorted to ground, holding one command permanently active
- Failed multiplexed switch input inside the control module
How to fix it
- Watch each switch input in live data and press every cruise button in turn to see which one does not report correctly
- Measure the resistance of the switch block in each position and compare it with the specified value
- Look for a stuck button or debris in the switch pack that would keep a contact closed
- Inspect the connector and the clockspring for corrosion, moisture and broken conductors
- Test the switch wiring for continuity and for shorts to ground along its route
- Replace the switch block or the clockspring when the measurements fall outside specification
- Clear the code and confirm every cruise function responds correctly on a road test
