What does it mean?
P1595 is a Powertrain (engine, transmission, fuel system) fault code. It indicates: Speed Control Solenoid Circuit Failure .
Symptoms
- Cruise control cannot be set, or cancels itself within a few seconds
- Vehicle will not hold the selected speed and slowly loses it on gradients
- Cruise indicator lamp flashes or fails to illuminate
- Check engine light on with the code stored
- Normal driving with the accelerator pedal is unaffected
Likely causes
- Open or shorted winding inside the speed control solenoid
- Corroded connector at the solenoid, often after water has run down the harness
- Chafed or broken control wire between the module and the solenoid
- Blown fuse or a missing ignition supply feeding the solenoid
- High resistance ground connection for the solenoid circuit
- Mechanically stuck solenoid plunger that draws abnormal current
- Failed solenoid driver output inside the control module
How to fix it
- Confirm that the brake switch, clutch switch and vehicle speed signal are all reporting correctly
- Inspect the solenoid connector for water, corrosion and loose terminals
- Measure the solenoid winding resistance and compare it against the specified value
- Check for supply voltage at the solenoid with the ignition on, and confirm a good ground
- Command the solenoid with a scan tool where supported and listen or feel for it operating
- Test the control wire for continuity and for shorts to ground and to battery voltage
- Replace the solenoid when it fails testing, then clear the code and confirm the system holds speed on the road
