What does it mean?
B1200 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Climate Control Pushbutton Circuit Failure .
Symptoms
- One or more climate buttons do nothing, or work only when pressed very firmly
- A function stays on permanently, such as recirculation, defrost or A/C
- Panel display or button backlighting dim, flickering or completely dead
- Blower speed or air distribution changing by itself
- Climate settings not retained between drives
- Fault message on the climate display
Likely causes
- Worn or mechanically stuck pushbutton; a permanently pressed button reads as a circuit fault
- Liquid spilled into the control head damaging the switch matrix or the board
- Cracked solder joints or a failed track inside the panel after years of vibration
- Open, shorted or high-resistance wiring in the pushbutton circuit
- Corroded or backed-out terminals at the control head connector
- Missing supply voltage or a poor ground at the panel
- Faulty input circuit in the receiving body or HVAC module
How to fix it
- Press every button in turn while watching the switch states in live data to identify which circuit reports the fault
- Remove the control head and check the connector is fully seated with clean, undamaged terminals
- Measure supply voltage and ground quality at the panel connector
- Look for signs of liquid ingress, corrosion on the board or a physically stuck button
- Continuity test the pushbutton circuit between the panel and the module
- Repair the harness fault, or replace the control head if the internal switch matrix is damaged
- Replace or reconfigure the HVAC/body module only after supply, ground and wiring have been proven good
